PROSPECTS Study
Lumbar Stenosis Prognostic Subgroups for Personalizing Care and Treatment (2020-2025)
About Lumbar Spinal Stenosis
Lumbar Spinal Stenosis (LSS) is a condition characterzied by narrowing of the spine, which places pressure on spinal nerves. This can result in symptoms of low back and leg pain. LSS is most prevalent among older adults and commonly limits walking.

PROSPECTS Study
Our aim is to study Lumbar Stenosis Prognostic Subgroups for Personalizing Care and Treatment (PROSPECTS). We want to learn more about the outcomes of people with LSS. Learning more about the prognosis of this condition would help in developing and evaluating a clinically useful predictive model of long-term functioning among older adults with symptomatic LSS receiving non-surgical care. This approach will enable matching individuals to optimal treatment approaches. Our hope is that this model would contribute to improving the overall quality of care for those living with LSS. This study is funded by NIH/National Institute of Aging. They have provided us with a Certificate of Confidentiality to protect your privacy.
